What I carve is not really just decoys. The carvings are all kinds of wildlife. I have done songbirds, whales as well as all types of ducks, geese and swans. I enjoy doing decorative pieces which have lots of texturing and burning in the feathers as well as working decoys which are smooth without as much detail. Most are carved out of tupelo or white cedar and then painted or antiqued, but I also enjoy using wood with beautiful grain and then putting a gloss or stain finish on the piece to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
